Decade::1960-1969

A lot changed in the 1960's. For starter, lets take the fashion and fads:

Fashion & Fads:
At the beginning of the 60's, they dressed real reserved, but towards the middle the women started cutting their hair, wearing shorter skirts and shorts, tighter shirts with big shoes. The men started wearing bright jackets and pants, their hair got real long and thicker.

Books & Literature:
A lot of books were influenced by politics at this time. Then as time changes, the women started writing books on feminism.

Television & Radio:
The radio was the main way to listen to music at this time. New music developed and new dance moves were developed too. TV was really used for cartoons. A lot of cartoons were made for parents and kids. A lot of humor shows were made for the older people.

Theater and Film:
This started the growth of theater in the 60's. It was being done in more places than New York City. If the play was popular most of the time it became a movie/film. Sex was in a lot of moves now, but it was mainly ignored.

Art & Architecture:

The styles were a lot different at the time in the 60's. It was constantly changing. The art was influenced great by the future or what they thought the future was going to be like.

Education:

Education for the american children isn't very good at this time. They had to basically rethink their teaching methods. Because there were many problems with their methods. It wasn't just their methods that was causing children to fall behind in their education; there was some events happening at the same time: The schools and the school buses were being integrated (which a lot of people thought was wrong). Also the boys were being drafted into the Army, which they weren't able to finish their high school education.

Music:

This was the time that many famous people started. Drugs was the main affect on music. New musical technologies were developed.

Events & Technology

A lot happened in the 1960's with technology and events: The civil right movement happened, Malcom X made his speech about black nationalism then was assassinated, better words describing African Amereicans were approved. birth contol was developed and abortions were leagal, hippie have movement, LSD was used, JFK and Martin Luther King was also assassinated, and the space race began, first artifal heart was placed in a woman.

Sports:

Olympics in the 1960's happened, both winter and summer. Of course, America dominated in everything, America won the gold for almost everything with men, women, white and blacks.
