Decades::1980-1989::

"If you got it, why not flaunt it!"(this was a big saying in this decade)
Fashion: People dressed in the Opulent Clothing style. They were tank tops, tight fitting jeans or torn pants, and leg warmers. Michael Jackson and Madonna were the big influences of fashion at this time.
Fads: Team sports were real popluar. The term "soccer mom" came into play.Nerds became a hot commodity in the 1980's!
Books & Literature:
There were 13 books that sold over one million copies! Donald Trump wrote two books at this time called "Trump: Surviving at the top" and "Lacocca:an autobiography". Some Famous authors were:Tom Clancy, Frederick Forsyth, Martin Cruz, and Stephen King.
Television & Radio:
The sales of VCRs rose. By 1989, 60% of American households had cable. TV started having anti-family shows like Roseanne and married with children. Tabliod TV started with Geraldo, Phil, Sally, and Ophrah.
Theater & Film:
Broadway revivals were very important druing the 80's! Some big broadway plays were Westside Story, The King and I, Andrew Lloyd Webber's mega hit, Cats, The Phantom of the Ophera!
Art & Architecture:
the 80's were a huge decade for art, art museums, and artists. People bought art at record prices...like Van Gough's 'Sunflowers' sold for $39.9 million. Some famous artists were Jasper Johns, Keith Haring, Frank Stella. Some famous Architecure built in the 80's were The Trump Tower, High Museum in Atlanta, Union Station in Washington.
Education:
UCLA did a study and found out that college freshman were most interested in their status, power and money. Business Management was the most popular major. People started showing their disapproval to the rising student costs and how they were against budget cuts.
Music:
MTV started, CDs were invented, people were learning how to dance from MTV. They were learning dance moves such as slam dancing, Lambada, and Break dancing. Then 'Vogueing' became real popluar! Pop, Rock, New wave, punk, country, and rap or hip hop were real popluar! Some important groups were Milli Vanilli, M.C. Hammer, Vanilla Ice, and L.L. Cool J.
Events & Technology:
Science/ Tech. made large strides in the 80's. Personal computers were bing used in homes, offices, and schools. Columbia was launched in 1981, the Challenger exploded 74 seconds after lift off and killed 7 astronauts and 1 school teacher. Major Advancements in genetic research in 1988's happened. They found out that there is 80,000 genes contained in human DNA. Wayne Williams was arrested for the murder of 23 black children. Sandra Day O'conner became the first woman in the supreme court justice. Sex revolution encountered major adversity when Rock Hudson died of Aids in 1985.

Decade::1960-1969

Fashion & Fads:
At the beginning of the 60's, they dressed real reserved, but towards the middle the women started cutting their hair, wearing shorter skirts and shorts, tighter shirts with big shoes. The men started wearing bright jackets and pants, their hair got real long and thicker.
Books & Literature:
A lot of books were influenced by politics at this time. Then as time changes, the women started writing books on feminism.
Television & Radio:
The radio was the main way to listen to music at this time. New music developed and new dance moves were developed too. TV was really used for cartoons. A lot of cartoons were made for parents and kids. A lot of humor shows were made for the older people.
Theater and Film:
This started the growth of theater in the 60's. It was being done in more places than New York City. If the play was popular most of the time it became a movie/film. Sex was in a lot of moves now, but it was mainly ignored.
Decade::1970-1979::

- Anti-war movement
-alot of college and university students showed their opinion for it.
- School Integration
-When schools integrated it carused alot of problems and put students behind in their education path.
- Education of all Handicapped Children Act of 1975
-equal edxucation provided for the handicapped children.
Music:
As "Rock N Roll's" famous influences died or broke up along with them so did rock N roll. All different types of other "rockers" came out. Soft rock, country rock, folk rock, punk rock...and disco started. Some big bands that were popular in the 1970's were : Aerosmith, the Bee-gees, David Bowie,Alice Cooper, Ealges, Billy Joel, Elton John, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, The Who,Carpenters, and Bob Marley
Events & Technology:
Things that were invented-Floppy disk, Microprocessor,Atari, VCR, Neutron Bomb, First test tube baby, genes were discovered, then genetic engineering was deveolped. Some events that happend-
- April 22,1970- First Earth Day celebrated
- May 4, 1970- 4 students killed when national guards fired during anti-war demonstration at Kent Starte (universtiy of Ohio)
- June 28, 1970-First Gay Pride march
- April 24,1971- Huge anti-war march in Washington D.C.
- September 5, 1972- 19 killed in terroist siege at Muncich olympic Games.
- August 9, 1974- Ford became the 38th president
- March 28, 1979- Radioactive leak at three Mile Island Nuclear power plant
Sports:
At this time the two big teams were the Cowboys and the Steelers. They were also a big rivalry! Prifessional athletes demanded a raise in money. Then endorsing became extremly popluar for professional athletes, which earned them more money.
Big Events:
- Febuary 18, 1973- Stunt driver Evel Kinievel jumped across 50 cars stacked four deep in the Los Angeles Collesium.
- April 8, 1974- Hank Arron hit his 715th home run and beat Babe Ruth's record.
- Febuary 25, 1978- Kurt Thomas became the first american man to win a medal at the world gymnastics championship; taking first in the floor exercise.
Theater and Film:
Beacuse of how popluar TV beacme, movies were not so popluar, but they invinted panavistion and Dolby sound to advacne the move and a big come back of movies started. Some big movies at this time was Startwars, Rocky, Poseiden Adventures, Godfather, Grease, Saturday Night Fever.
Televesion & Radio:
TV became real popluar in the 70's. Nothing was private anymore. TV shows talked about everything , it didn't matter what the subject. some major shows were all in the family, Saturday Night live, Happy days, The Brady Bunch, and sesome street for the kids.
Books and Literature:

Fashion and Fads:
Fashion and fads were big in the 1970's. Some fads were going nude around places was the wildest fad, lots of poeple drove startion wagons and alomost everyone desired and hoped for an RV. Mood rings. Lava Lamps, Rubik's cube, sea monkeys, smile face stickers. The popular fashion was men had shoulder length hair, bellbottom pants, hop huggers, platforms shoes, earth shoes, Leisure surits for men and women's skirts went from really long to real short called micro-skirts.
